JORDAN WESTRE

Westre is an analog collage artist born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1991, currently based in Vancouver, BC. She has been working in the collage medium since 2012, shortly after leaving her Art History major at the University of Victoria. Her most recent pieces juxtapose majestic landscape sourced primarily from discarded coffee table books and vintage National Geographic with images cut from pornographic or editorial magazines of just about any decade. This juxtaposition aims to create a sense of the inner thoughts and experience of the protagonist, often addressing the disconnect between how one feels and how they are being perceived. Westre draws influence from the tradition of surrealism, sci-fi greats and the history of advertisement as well as fashion and landscape photography to create unique interpretations of life experienced in the modern age.
